I'm excited for this, looks really polished. Third person view now, multiplayer, lots of stuff improved.

More info: https://blog.us.playstation.com/2018/07/17/no-mans-sky-next-is-a-massive-free-update-launching-july-24-on-ps4/

I really hope the inventory is better. I hope more things stack and I hope you can really expand it more.

HOLY CRAP that looks good! I havent really gone back to No mans in a good long time, before any of the patches and such. I wanted to get back into it after they added base building but i never got a round to it. this seems like the absolute perfect time to jump back in again and start anew!

Do you still play at all V? we could totes link up this time around!

I would totally go back into this after the update drops. We could give it a go for sure. I haven’t played it in a good long while. I think it always made me, not sure what the right word is...hmmm...exasperated. Each time a big big update dropped, you had to start over and it was exasperating. Losing the weapons slots and backpack slots, and money, etc. so hopefully it’s better this time around.

Oh i didn;t know that each update re-set your stuff! probably a good thing i wasn't still playing then, that would have annoyed the crap out of me.

Will definitely give this a shot though, the trailer super got me jazzed for it and I've been away for so long i've got so much new stuff on top of this update to experience too!

i do agree though, for the love of god make the inventory system better! being forces to drop shit and sell stuff just to make a bit more room for a crafting material drove me batty!

So I played for a tiny bit last night in a save that I had started when the last huge update hit. And while it wasn't necessary to start over, I think I will start over. So much has changed and so much stuff is broken in a way, like the star system I'm in only has one planet now, that starting over would be best. Even how you make warp cells is different and I don't have any ingredients for them and the planet left in my system is a nightmarishly hot hell hole. https://files.jcink.net/uploads/katamariontheweb/emoticons/lol.gif

So I thought no tonight I will start over and see how that goes.

The one complaint I do have from the little bit I spent with it is that the quick menu HUD is too small and I can't even read it a couple feet away from my tv.

uh oh, there's no HUD options to tweak? that's kinda sucky.

although there were a few UI notes in the patch, maybe they'll make it bigger after a bit.

I remember that being a nightmare while playing prototype 1 back on the ps3 on an SD tv. Tiny Tiny red text on black background, couldn't read a damn thing!

So I played all weekend. I started over. After a bit of roughness at the beginning, I'm settling back in. The new way you power everything up is a bit jarring. And it's even more jarring when you realize how crap the menu system is set up. When you have to constantly recharge everything with different resources, a better interface would make it feel so much less tedious. I'm playing on normal at the moment. Not gonna bother with permadeath or survival. Though I might try creative at some point.

I do like the new space stations. I like that you can buy exosuit upgrades there now. I like that those little cubes on desks and tables do things now. I like that I can seemingly talk to any npc. I like that there's a mission board. I like the freighters and frigates and owning more than one ship. Being able to fly low and even through caves is awesome.

I don't like how you craft warp cells and launch thruster fuel now. And I don't like that the pulse jet fuel can seemingly only be found in asteroid belts now, that's a tiny bit annoying. I still don't like pirates attacking me all the time ( https://files.jcink.net/uploads/katamariontheweb/emoticons/lol.gif ). I still don't like how there's such a tiny storage space for stuff in your inventory when it's a game about exploration and mining and collecting stuff.

Nada and Polo's missions have a reset timer on them is also really stupid.

Also, the save system still sucks. Being able to have a deployable save at any point is nice, yes, but it's taking up a valuable slot in my exosuit at the moment. Not to mention I haven't made any upgrades yet so those slots that have elements in will end up with upgrades in them. Yes, there are extra slots but not at my disposal yet, can't afford them.

Doesn't help that this game makes me into a massive hoarder. I'm sways afraid that once piece of salt/parafinium/ferrite dust/etc I have or that one Vy'Keen dagger will be important at some point. I noticed the Gek can be given Gek-nip this time around so stuff like that is worth holding on to depending on what you want to do. Some things can still only be in stacks of 5 which drives me nuts. I landed on a planet that had...ugh, now I can't remember what they're called vortex cubes...but it had tons of them and they're high value but only stack up to 5. Which I guess is the point but not when you need all these other resources just to live. https://files.jcink.net/uploads/katamariontheweb/emoticons/doh.gif

That's just a bit off the top of my head at the moment.

I did have a random player pop into my game on Friday night, but they disappeared before I had a chance to get to them.

Yeah, it's very pretty. Very very pretty. Photomode is amazing.

Here's a video I took of a moon, sitting inside it's planets rings, making it kind of hard to reach the downed ship I needed to reach...

Yeah, the rings stay where they are since the moon is in the middle of the rings. It seems to be somewhat common. I've seen some people post about it.

It's super trippy though. https://files.jcink.net/uploads/katamariontheweb/emoticons/wacko.gif

So i got the updates installed, nuked my original play-through and started a new one.

spawned on a super high radiation planet when to mine the dust for the scanner repair, and got swarmed by sentinels, fought off one of them and then it spawned a combat model, was almost dead so i tried to hide in a cave, cave was ludicrously toxic and i died...all in about 2 minutes...

Gonna wipe and try again XD

2nd try is going a lot better, didn't die immediately. Freezing planet this time with limited sentinels. just made it to my ship, gonna mess around for a bit....

can't remember how to get the analysis visor though XD

----------------
edit: oh its part of the tutorial...duh X.X
